The Citadel is in the bustling hinterland town of Murwillumbah, between the world-renowned Tweed Coast and heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests within the Tweed hinterland. Mount Warning (Wollumbin) stands prominently as nature's sculpture on the horizon. Murwillumbah is known for reviving itself after fire and flood. This 100-year-old Citadel has survived these times. After a number of years of private use TheCitadel is again welcoming an audience but revived as a building for The Visual and Performing Arts, drawing from this rich local culture of creativity, and passion for our natural environment. Murwillumbah is surrounded by small villages each with their own unique identity. Visit us here and we will share what makes our Tweed Hinterland so special.
Being located between the live music hubs of the Gold Coast and Byron Bay we are a great little venue to include in your tour. Our venue houses 100 standing patrons or 80 seated in rows or 50 cabaret style. The stage suits acoustic performances and is supported by a bar and green room for performers to prepare backstage.
We are in process of establishing costs for hire of the venue- We will be available for private functions, book launches, weddings, wakes. With a catering kitchen and bar let us know what you're after and we'll see what we can accommodate.
